• File Uploads

    Before you begin:

    • Before you begin, please arrange your files into a single ZIP file. This makes the file transfer easier as well as providing a way to check the integrity of the files.

Easiest File Upload Method (Requires Java)

    Go to:
On a PC you will likely be asked to run the java code:

On a mac you will be asked to "Allow" the code to run. There is no harm in this. The code has not yet been officially registered, but we guarantee its safety. If you are not sure about this, please see our alternate upload method in the next section.

Once the code runs you will see the file upload window:

Drag your zipped file into the window, or use the select button and find the file on your local hard drive and select it. The uploading starts as soon as the zip file is selected.

When finished, be sure to e-mail your contact at asylum (or support@asylumresearch.com) with the filename ready for pickup on our servers.

Note: This upload program requires java 1.5. Most web browsers have this running by default. If not, you have two choices. Either install java (http://www.java.com/) or use our alternate file upload method.

Alternate (more complicated) File Upload Method

    • Before you begin, please arrange your files into a single ZIP file. This makes the file transfer easier as well as providing a way to check the integrity of the files. Please do not drag folders onto our FTP site.
    • Open a browser and go here. You should get a blank screen. If not, you might have to turn on folder view, which you can do under "Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Settings" in Internet Explorer. Select "Enable Folder View for FTP Sites".
    • Take the file and drop and drag it onto their browser window. It should proceed to copy it to our site. If there is trouble, it could be due to your firewall. Use "Passive FTP", which can be found under "Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Settings" in Internet Explorer. It might appear as if your file disappeared after your uploaded it. Don't to worry, it is still there. This is a side effect of the security we use to prevent people from using our site to trade software, French movies, and MP3s.
    • Then send an email message to the person you wish to receive this file, so that they will know to go grab it. The incoming FTP site is not something we routinely check.
