    URGENT NOTICE
Are you running Windows XP on your Asylum Research AFM?

If you purchased your Asylum Research AFM prior to December 2010, there's a good chance that your AFM computer is running the Windows XP operating system. Microsoft is discontinuing their support for Windows XP effective April 8th, 2014 (see Microsoft's statement here). This means that Microsoft will no longer be providing any software updates or support for Windows XP. Without these updates your computer will become increasingly vulnerable to security risks, viruses, and other malware.

To maintain the safety and integrity of your AFM system, Asylum Research highly recommends that you upgrade your AFM computer as soon as possible to a recent model capable of running Windows 7. We strongly recommend that you purchase a pre-configured computer directly from Asylum. This option allows us to provide you with complete upgrade support. We price these computer upgrades fairly, only marginally higher than Dell retail prices in order to cover the additional hardware and time that we put into them.

Please contact us at [email protected]m with your name, institution and existing IGOR Pro serial number for a quote. More information on this issue and your upgrade options, including some do-it-yourself upgrades, can be found in the "Support" section of our website.

Please note that this issue affects all computers still running the Windows XP operating system, not just Asylum AFMs. Please refer to the Microsoft page or the relevant equipment vendors for upgrade advice regarding other computers in your lab or home.
